Two Waters Activities(TWA) is the Active Support unit linked to 1 st Apsley Scout Group. Formed in 2014, the aim of TWA was to optimise the location and size of the Group with the aim to provide a range of adventurous activities to support the existing Scouting programme. With the close cooperation of Dacorum Council & Boxmoor & Dacorum Angling Club, TWA was able to gain access to the small lake and set about a clearing programme to enable the lake to be used for water activities. In addition a range was built at the back of the Scout hut to facilitate shooting & archery.

Over the last 3 years the team has steadily increased and with the help of fundraising & grants, TWA has now managed to purchase a range of kayaks, canoes & katakanus, archery, shooting & climbing equipment. We have a number of leaders who have the relevant permits to support all these activities.

Over the course of a year, TWA offers a range of activities to the ten sections of 1st Apsley and in addition provides kayak, shooting & archery courses to cubs & Scouts across Hemel District. TWA also supports other Groups in Hemel Hempstead to come & use the facility.

In 2016, TWA water team supported Hemel Hempstead Explorers in completing Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Canoe expedition & expanded this offering in 2017 by offering both Bronze & Silver expeditions.

The next exciting step is now to extend the site to put in place an all weather Archery / shooting range & to build some external toilets & changing facilities to support the water activities as well as dedicated storage for the activites.

See the EXTENSION PAGE for more details.

We look forward to welcoming you down to the Two Waters Activites Centre.
